Well - hello there strangers... I had the honor and distnction of competing in the Beaver Lake Triathlon with a couple of great kids on my team... my daughter Hailey, and her boyfriend David Jett. At the encouragement of my daughter Hailey, I managed to drop 30 pounds and compete in an event we have been volunteering since 2002 (that would be Sharon that did the volunteering). Anyway - here is the article in the Issaquah Press prior to the event and then the pictures follow... (click on it to make it bigger!)
We placed 10th out of 23 teams competing. It was a close race between "Chicken Legs" (Shawna Blyth, and Greg Manciagli) against team: "TheJet" (Hailey Theeuwen, David Jett, Peter Theeuwen). Jett came out as strong as Phelps in a 6 minute quarter mile swim, some were heard to exclaim: "...I thought power boats weren't allowed on Beaver Lake!!" - this was then followed up with old man Theeuwen getting on his bike and pulling down a 47 minute cycle over the 13 and a half mile circuit. Manciagli was seen to have passed Theeuwen near the completion of the circuit, but Theeuwen managed to convince them it was a figment of their imagination...
Most impressive was Hailey Theeuwen rarely seen running (unless her phone is across the room and David is calling) who ran the 4+ miles in an impressive 40 minutes (that's about 9 minutes per mile... pretty darn good). This was TheJet Team's first appearance in the BLT, old man Theeuwen was heard saying to David, Hailey and Wife Sharon: "thank you for inspiring me to get in shape... its a good thing round is a shape :)"
